The Full Stack Engineer will be responsible for platform management.This covers the lowest levels of hardware all the way up to the application, to include, hardware, virtualization, OS, networking, storage, and middleware.
Working with SMEs from Operations, Architects, Network Engineering, ESX Engineering, OS engineering and Storage Engineering in determining the right mix and configuration for the various components that make up the operating stack within our NextGEN Datacenters.
Be able to take an automate first mindset in problem solving and use modern software development practices to solve operational issues.
Manage relationships and interact with multiple vendors.
Lead the team towards a DevOPS practice in how we engineer and support technologies within FORD IT.
Test and certify the various components that constitute our full stack platform.These include, storage, networking, hardware, virtualization, operating systems, and middleware.
Provide cradle to grave support in a DevOPS support model for Ford’s full stack of hardware and software.
Address security and control requirements.
Develop operational tools and applications to support our newest strategies within IT.
Lead a global governance and communication process for multiple technologies.
Performs at an extremely high level of technical competence and maturity.
Ability to communicate effectively with application developers.
Ability to be a self-starter, looking for improvements to processes and business offerings.
Ability to clearly explain technical issues in a non-technical fashion
Ability to create complex, technical documentation for operational use
Ability to handle multiple complex projects at one time.
High School Diploma or GED
4+ years of experience with Linux
3+ years of experience in software development
3+ years in test-driven, agile, application development.
5+ years of experience in Operating Systems Development
Experience working in a server operations role for a large heterogeneous environment
Intensive infrastructure knowledge, e.g., SAN, network, database, and server hardware
Good Communication Skills and ability to utilize desktop tools to accelerate communications (Wikis, IM, WebEx, etc.)
