Ford’s Safety Electronics team designs and develops hardware and functional models that provide Best in Class behavior for features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Cross Traffic Alert, Active Park Assist and 360 Camera Systems.

We are seeking seasoned professionals who can contribute to our efforts with experience in the development of sensors, ECUs, models and software. This position is focused on the development and integration of feature models into a central ADAS ECU, but could also involve other elements of the process because we are seeking to add high quality people to the team rather than trying to squeeze engineers into a specific role.

  • Lead overall Model integration with other feature models and maintain an integrated model that is delivered to software coding team (either internal, third party or with hardware supplier)
  • Work with all the feature model owners to ensure that the feature models are compatible with each other, meet the modeling guidelines, and can be autocoded into the appropriate micros in the ADAS ECU.
  • Resolve and model integration compatibility issues either with the larger feature model team or with coding team
  • Develop and lead model peer reviews of existing, modified and future feature models
  • Support SIL, MIL and HIL and Replay uses of the integrated model
  • Work with the Ford Hardware in the Loop Team to establish CAE procedures to reduce dependence on vehicle level testing
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Software, Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace or Controls Engineering
  • 2+ years experience in model development in Matlab/Simulink
  • 1+ years ‘experience with radar/camera feature model integration or software development
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Project Management experience
  • Understanding of embedded hardware and software design
  • Control algorithm development using Matlab, Simulink or equivalent and autocoding of models
  • Knowledge of AUTOSAR and related tools
  • Software architecture, modular application development with Model/software, strong embedded experience, developing production algorithm experience
  • Design and development of radar, image processing or similar digital signal processing applications
  • Developing and conducting laboratory and vehicle tests.
