Position Overview
The Ford Smart Mobility (FSM) LLC team is working to transform the urban transportation experience. We are looking for a HR professional to join us in this journey to develop and deliver exciting and ground-breaking human centered products and services. You would be joining a team that is responsible for designing, developing, prototyping and launching people products and services that help facilitate our talent strategy. This role will focus on HR generalist and talent management work for FSM operations in Palo Alto. The successful candidate will be comfortable with ambiguity, will enjoy being challenged professionally and will be highly driven with a flexible mindset.

Position Responsibilities
  • Partner with the business to drive people and talent management processes as well as organizational development for Ford Smart Mobility employees in Palo Alto:
    • Advise people leaders on performance management processes and opportunities for employees
    • Support learning and development (i.e., leadership development) initiatives
    • Identify and monitor key positions, ensuring robust succession plans and working with operations to build bench strength
    • Monitor and encourage actions that create a diverse and inclusive workplace
    • Facilitate change management along with leaders throughout the business
    • Seek out opportunities for organizational development initiatives that build individual, team, and organizational effectiveness
  • Support operating partners with internal and external talent acquisition:
    • Assist in determining correct mix of skills and talent – internal v. external, Silicon Valley v. other locations, etc.
    • Monitor and drive hiring strategy and timelines that correspond with organization designs and authorized budget/headcount
    • Collaborate with hiring managers and leaders on crafting position descriptions that accurately define job responsibilities and engage potential candidates
    • Interface with and leverage Ford US Recruiting and external recruiting partners to ensure alignment and proper support for hiring managers
    • Identify additional FSM recruitment channels and support partners; build relationships to leverage reach and attraction
    • Work with leaders to define brand and departmental employee value propositions
    • Serve as a consultant and expert in effective onboarding practices; monitor and adjust processes to deliver excellent candidate/employee experiences
    • Participate in FSM recruiting governance meetings, owning updates and point-of-view for Bay Area/Palo Alto hiring
    • Develop new-hire offers, coordinate internal transfers and promotions
    • Partner with Finance on headcount and budge
  • Act as a consultant to the business; build strong relationships with operating partners, HR colleagues and experts, and other stakeholders to jointly deliver business objectives, remove roadblocks, and resolve issues.
  • Serve as the point-of-contact for HR related questions and issues in Bay Area/Palo Alto, including:
    • International service and immigration administration
    • Policy consultation, referral, especially related to California labor/work laws
    • Liaison for complex payroll and/or benefits questions, issue
  • Leverage Ford centers of expertise (i.e., Learning and Organizational Development, Compensation, etc.) and third party vendors to develop HR processes and deliver appropriate solutions (e.g. recruiting, competency assessment, ranking, organizational design).
  • Analyze data and use technology to proactively identify and diagnose business needs / opportunities and develop solutions to meet those needs.
  • Work with other FSM and Mobility HR Associates to ensure alignment of key people processes and strategies.

Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree
  • 1+ years work experience in a human resources role

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree-focus or certification in HR Management, Business Administration, or related field
  • 3+ years human resources experience with a focus on recruitment and selection
  • Strong talent assessment skills (int. & ext.) and can quickly assess “fit and effectiveness”
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate resources across multiple functions. Experience partnering with global teams preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and persuasion skills; ability to guide and influence all levels
  • Ability to work closely and successfully with others in order to deliver results
  • Strong independent judgment – leverages HR process knowledge to deliver business-centric creative solutions
  • Ability to work across multiple unique and wide ranging business projects simultaneously
  • Strong business diagnostic and planning skills – able to operationalize change management, organizational development, and related tools with confidence
  • Highly adept at relationship building; both with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong aptitude for critical thinking and analysis
  • Thrives in an unstructured environment; demonstrated ability to handle ambiguity
