Handle promptly any safety concerns or near misses in the automation group
Have a strong knowledge of paint automation with the ability to manage the following processes:
Troubleshoot PLC, robot, and other automation problems
Update program backups for automation
Program new installations of Paint tooling and conveyor systems
Reprogram automation for engineering changes and improvements
Coordinate the paint appearance continuous improvement work, as well as FTT/FRC increase by addressing quality concerns originated in the paint application process or cure process.
Provide necessary resources to maintain production flow.
Work continuously towards cost reduction by optimizing materials, labor and downtime.
Coach, counsel and manage all controls engineers and Automation Team Leaders in the department to ensure they accomplish all department and section goals.
Adhere to Time & Data Management to promote, support, and coach a continuous improvement mindset.
Support downtime improvement in the automation equipment performance by creating systems to collect and analyze Availability, MTBF and MTTR.
Support MOS Strategy: Safety Work orders closure, Constraint Management, 100% PM Completion, BBQ readiness, Top X Issues analysis and resolution, Supplier management and Work order creation, management and closure.
Drive the creation and coordination of work plans (weekends, downtime, shutdown, etc.) and ensure the team is executing.
Identify requirements and develop training plans for automation tenders and skilled trades.
Develop and maintain versatility requirements.
Enable a culture of learning through demonstration of effective communication skills
Develop highly competent and motivated people
High School or GED
5+ years of Production, Maintenance and/or Automation experience
1+ years’ experience working with conveyors systems, Paint/Sealer applications, and PLC logic & controls
3+ years’ of experience working with paint automation equipment (Fanuc, Durr, or ABB+)
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or equivalent
10+ years of maintenance and engineering experience
Black belt six sigma training desired
Experience handling the color harmony process
Project manager training/experience
Strong ability to interface/manage a unionized workforce
Familiarity with VFD’s, encoders, network/Ethernet controls
Fundamental working knowledge of PLC logic and controls (RSLogix)
Successful candidate should be able to demonstrate leadership in One FORD (leadership) behaviors combined with outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills
