Do you have an interest in vehicle dynamics and control systems? Here is an opportunity to drive the latest prototype vehicles while creating and developing chassis controls for autonomous driving vehicles. This Ford Chassis Controls position involves a mix of theory, computer simulation, and in-vehicle testing. We will be taking a systems level approach to development of requirements and analysis of those requirements as they apply to various chassis systems to perform autonomous driving functions.
We are seeking an experienced Chassis (Brakes, Steering, Suspension) Systems Controls Engineer, in our Dearborn, Michigan location.
Develop requirements, failure analysis and design verification plans for vehicle motion controls, including chassis, powertrain, power-supply on an autonomous vehicle.
Develop vehicle motion control algorithms using MATLAB and Simulink Models
Perform vehicle motion control calibration and vehicle testing
Perform requirements/software functional validation (MIL/SIL testing) and work closely with HIL test engineers
Develop requirements /software validation tools using MATLAB/Simulink
Develop and maintain vehicle motion control dynamics models for algorithm development and stability analysis
Work closely with Ford engineers and tier-1 suppliers to develop feature interface requirements
Work closely with Brakes / EPAS / Powertrain feature and system engineers to resolve in-house software issues
Develop Brakes / EPAS HIL lab for bench testing
Develop vehicle simulation models for algorithm development and calibration
Innovate new Autonomous Vehicle, Chassis control or Driver Assistance features
Develop processes and tools to improve Chassis control development productivity
BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems, Controls Engineering or Computer Science
2 years of Control System development experience
MS degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Computer Science
2 years of software development experience including development of “C” code or model-based applications
2 years’ experience in Engineering role for Chassis (brakes, steering), Powertrain or Power-supply systems
2 years of controls system and state machine development experience
Experience in design and development of Computer Vision/FPGA/HDL systems
Experience applying Systems Engineering
Familiarity with Vector CANape, CANalyzer and dSPACE Controls Desk, TargetLink
Troubleshooting experience with electromechanical systems
Experience developing and executing test plans
Experience applying engineering disciplines for failure mode avoidance
Familiarity with ISO-26262
Demonstrated proficiency with CAN communication and databases
Experience developing system requirements
Good communications and project management skills
Strong leadership skills, passion for quality, passion to improve customer satisfaction
