Position Overview/Description:
Lead Ford Smart Mobility’s local strategy and execution for city engagement in the Midwest. Work with political leaders, business stakeholders, and community members in targeted cities to identify, build, launch, and operationalize sustainable business models that best position Ford and strategic partners to solve city mobility challenges and improve the quality of urban life. This position will require travel within region and will be provided with access to co-working space. (Detroit, Dearborn, Chicago, Pittsburgh)

Become the trusted partner – consult with cities regularly to continue discovery of their unmet mobility needs:

  • Identify and build relationships with key stakeholders such as Mayors, CIOs, and private sector CEOs in targeted cities to further qualify opportunities
  • Implement new tools and processes to scan, capture, and synthesize needs expressed at the local level to inform the design of new mobility solutions

Lead cross-functional teams through business development and project implementation to integrate Ford’s available mobility offerings and external solutions into business pilots to meet a city’s needs:
  • Support cities and strategic partners to pilot and/or roll out solutions
  • Support internal Ford stakeholders and external partners globally to establish processes and operational competencies that deliver profitable solutions tailored to city’s needs
  • Outline the business case and profit model for all new pilots

Prioritize and track business opportunities by city:
  • Develop, articulate, and implement a defined path to ensure project profitability
  • Develop key metrics to measure success
  • Participate in the Ford Smart Mobility planning process to inform the selection and prioritization of new city opportunities

Enhance Ford’s external mobility profile:
  • Establish and maintain relevant networks by attending and presenting at various city and mobility-related forum

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of public or private sector experience in transportation, policy, planning, or a mobility-related field
  • 5+ years of experience developing solutions to address the wide range of challenges that cities face that impact physical and socio-economic mobility

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Existing network with the urban planning community, municipal governments, technology providers, real estate, and public and private sector transportation operators
  • Ability to effectively navigate complexity within the business and public sectors
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills with the ability to modify for different audiences
  • Experience working laterally across multiple business projects simultaneously
  • Bias for action – identifies and acts on both short- and long-term goals in achieving results
  • Comfortable with ambiguity – remains focused in spite of unexpected challenges; continues to seek a path forward
  • Empathetic listener, skilled in translating customer needs into well-designed solutions
  • Strong aptitude for critical thinking and analysis – able to translate strategic plans into executable actions
  • Experience in preparing or responding to public funding opportunities
  • MBA, Master of Public Policy, or Master of Public Administration in process or completed​
