POSITION OVERVIEW: Act as Operations Lead to support and advance Ford Smart Mobility’s strategy and execution of city innovation challenges. This will include work in both domestic and international cities. Work within a team to create a design-thinking toolkit for cities to identify, improve and implement mobility solutions. Translate learnings to inform strategies that best position Ford and strategic partners to solve city mobility challenges and improve the quality of urban life.
Contribute to effective analysis and engagement of cities during innovation challenge process
Work with clients and cross-functional teams to research city mobility goals, needs and preferences
Work with City Challenge Global Lead to synthesize and articulate learnings from challenge research, including: secondary research, data analytics, social listening, field work and community working sessions
Leverage learnings and insights from challenge research to inform the design of city challenge briefs and submission tracks
Support recruitment of challenge participants, including start-ups, designers, community leaders, individuals and corporate R&D teams
Support implementation of mentoring program for challenge finalists
Support Ford Smart Mobility teams and partners to develop, bid, and pilot solutions
Translate challenge lessons into actionable insight for Ford Mobility product teams
Manage specific elements of city challenge project plans, including client communication, scheduling resources, leading cross-functional teams, establishing and monitoring budgets/schedules
Prepare proposals as well as establish scope of work, project resource requirements, and key metrics to measure success
Participate in client and public meetings
Advance skill team knowledge of the application of urban planning and transportation planning practices for more effective placement of business services
3+ years of experience managing complex projects on time and on budget
Master’s degree in transportation planning, or a directly related field, and certification as a planner (i.e. AICP or PTP)
Proficiency in design-thinking research techniques, data analytics and ability to convey research concepts in written and visual form
Experience working in government or urban transportation planning (i.e. data analysis, street design, data collection and performance assessments, multimodal/intermodal facility planning, transit service planning, and/or transportation demand management)
Strong knowledge of transport policy, funding, and governance and direct experience either working for or with a major city
Aptitude for and/or experience in business development; i.e. public agency experience, grant writing, or successful RFP development are applicable skills
