Job Description
A candidate for the IT Consulting Architect - Marketing & Sales position will be an individual who has demonstrated experience in (1) leading global teams, (2) application of strategic / critical thinking and enterprise architecture methodologies, and (3) someone who possesses excellent communications and consulting skills. The Consulting Architect role is responsible for working with colleagues within Ford business areas (i.e. Marketing and Sales, Service, Mobility, IT, etc.), and third parties in order to develop and maintain architecture blueprints (i.e. business strategy / capability artifacts and associated IT roadmaps). The position requires a successful candidate to help shape digital business strategies and develop sustainable reference models and approaches to evolve the Marketing and Sales information and application landscape across multiple business planning horizons (i.e. 0-18 months, 18-36 months, 3+ years).

Furthermore, the IT Consulting Architect will be responsible for the continued growth and development of members of his/her team. Ford is moving quickly to adopt new technologies and solution development approaches (e.g. continuous integration / continuous deployment, containers, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, etc.) which require more agile approaches in the application of enterprise architecture practices, and that place a premium on architecture resources becoming valued members of product-oriented teams. It is expected that this position will have a minimum of 6 direct reports, with those individuals residing across the globe (i.e. North America, Europe, Asia), and further team members will have varied technical and regional skills and training needs as Marketing and Sales drives to more common, global solutions.

The IT Consulting Architect:
  • Develops and maintains overall strategy and architecture blueprints for Marketing and Sales driving solution definition, integration and interoperability requirements, leading solution architecture, information management, and existing program activities to ensure successful architecture design and delivery across the Marketing and Sales portfolio.
  • Designs interoperability solutions and influences development of additional service-oriented patterns to facilitate modular release plans for Marketing and Sales in areas such as Connected Consumer Experiences, Online Sales, Sales Analytics, and Back-office Integration. Includes working with multiple internal teams (product teams, security, operations to ensure robust service designs and execution plans.
  • Provides unique Marketing and Sales requirements feedback to architecture management and strategy efforts in order to align creation of compatible enterprise architecture blueprints and solutions.
  • Responsible for identification and coordination of risk items related to interoperability, including the development of a sustained framework and infrastructure capability to test and mitigate such risks.
  • Provides architecture and business consulting for adjacent activities to the Marketing and Sales portfolio (e.g. Global Vehicle Distribution, Vehicle Pricing and Invoicing, Product Definition and Offer).

  • Global IT: Work across all IT organizations in Strategy Formulation and Delivery.
  • Global Business: Work with product teams and business leaders in multiple functions (Marketing & Sales, Ford Customer Service Division, Material Planning & Logistics, Manufacturing, Finance, Product Development, Mobility, and new emerging business ventures) to ensure integration and adoption of the capabilities services by Marketing and Sales

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
  • At least 7 years of professional work experience in one or more, or a combination of: architecture / software engineering / IT consulting

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field
  • Business / Strategy / Critical Thinking / Systems Thinking / Design Thinking development experience leading to proven and sustainable business outcomes
  • Strong advocate for application architecture and adoption / support of the new Pivotal Cloud Foundry (cloud-native) development paradigm and use of service oriented and micro-service elements.
  • Past experience with integration and adoption of information standards applicable to Marketing and Sales via partnerships with the Information Management function highly preferred.
  • Fundamental understanding of architecture methodologies and application (e.g. TOGAF) or significant software engineering / systems engineering experienceConsulting skills (e.g. communication / presentation skills, negotiations, leading with influence, problem framing and solving, industry knowledge, benchmarking, iterative methods / agile)
  • Demonstrated record of professional development (e.g. mentoring, coaching, applied research / experimentation, personnel development planning)
  • A minimum basic understanding of information security concerns and solution approaches (e.g. data privacy, authentication, authorization, data protection, confidentiality, integrity, availability, risk management)
