The Ford Wireless Connectivity Research Team is looking for an RF/Antenna Engineer will lead and/or participate in the research, design and development of automotive radio frequency and antenna activities.

The RF / Antenna Engineer, Wireless Connectivity Research Group, Ford Silicon Valley Labs position is located at Ford’s Research & Innovation Center in Palo Alto, CA.

  • Lead and/or participate in the research, design and development of automotive radio frequency and antenna activities
  • Lead automotive antenna design, simulation, prototyping, calibration and validation
  • Conduct technical reviews with system/hardware/software/mechanical teams and test labs/suppliers
  • Conduct technical proposals for requirement, specification, interfaces, implementation and verification
  • Conduct research for market variation and state-of-art technologies

Job Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science or Physics
  • 3+ years of work experience in antenna design

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in hardware design and development on antenna/RF for Cellular(3G/4G)/ Wi-Fi(a/b/g/n/ac/ad/p)/ GNSS/ AM/ FM/ SDARS
  • Skills on antenna/RF simulation, debugging, optimization and testing
  • Experience with 3D RF simulation tools (HFSS, CST, GRASP, etc) and RF lab equipment
  • Experience of some CAD tool for schematic and PCB layout
  • Experience of vehicle antenna would be plus
  • Knowledge of array antenna and beamforming
  • Knowledge of electromagnetic field, microwave, and millimeter-wave
  • Knowledge of FCC/IEC/ICNIRP SAR/HAC regulations
  • Knowledge of basics of wireless communication system
