Position Overview/Description:

We are looking for a seasoned Java developer that also has a UX background to envision, design, and implement future PC and mobile based vehicle diagnostic software. You will be part of a talented global software team that works on mission-critical applications. Java developer roles and responsibilities include managing Java application development while providing expertise in the full software development lifecycle, from concept and design to testing. As a team player, you will create impact by collaborating across the global organization and with key work partners throughout the company and various suppliers to provide a world class diagnostic solution to our dealers and customers.

Our diverse Global Diagnostic Team – situated in greater Detroit and London, works to understand the needs of our customers, identify new opportunities, and take action to design and innovate for the future of diagnostics.   • Provide Global vehicle program support on the Ford Diagnostic tool.
  • Ensure the design supports business and technical requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to automated testing processes.
  • Contribute to Agile team working sessions (backlog grooming, iteration planning, etc)
  • Ability to interpret Ford product development design documents and translate into diagnostic / software requirements; Oversee Ford software development supplier implementation.
  • Provide debugging and analysis of logical and syntactical software defects
  • This role will work with teams in different times zones

Job Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Related Technical Field
  • 3+ years of experience object oriented development Java or C#
  • 3+ Years of experience in web application development HTML, Java, ASP.NET or ASP.NET MVC
  • 3+ Years of experience with SOAP and/or REST based web services

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Practical experience in Agile Software Development, particularly Scrum/SAFe
  • Familiarity with vehicle electronics architecture and understanding of vehicle diagnostic concepts desired
  • Experience with IVS, GIVIS, SAVE, Odyssey or other relational database systems
  • Familiarity with publication systems
  • Experience working with global teams; ability to overcome geographic, cultural, and other differences to deliver quality results
  • Experience with test driven development (TDD)
  • Proficient in Software Configuration Management (SCM) tools and associated metrics e.g. GIT, Jenkins, SonarCube, etc.
  • Understanding of OTX authoring tools is a plus
  • Experience with graphic design/UX
