Job Description Job description: Provide engineering support to global exhaust and under-hood system development, in compliance with emission regulations, to achieve fail proof and cost effective design solutions, and to reduce product development time through thermal and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. Build CFD and thermal analysis CAE models to predict catalyst warm up and catalyst face utilization in an exhaust system. Perform analytical calculations using reduced or simplified math models to increase design and testing efficiency. Correlate test results with CAE prediction and interpret test results and explain their consequences on part functionality and performance.
Requires a master’s or foreign equivalent degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
3 years of experience performing computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling and analysis using Star CCM, Fluent, Hypermesh and ANSA CFD software packages for automotive systems and vehicles
3 years of experience applying thermodynamic, fluid flow, and heat transfer knowledge in problem formulation and CFD and thermal analyses
2 years of experience conducting exhaust system thermal and CFD simulations including catalyst light off, catalyst uniformity and sensor placement analyses
2 years of experience conducting CFD analyses includingflow through porous media, multiphase flow, and under-hood thermal analysis
Experience may be, but need not be, acquired concurrently
