Job Description Supervisor, Advanced Architectures for Automated Driving
Supervisor, Advanced Architectures for Automated Driving position offered by Ford Motor Company (Palo Alto, CA). Manage, through a subordinate team, development of Ford Center of Excellence in signal processing, machine learning, and perceptual computing. Identify and hire new personnel for Palo Alto facility, conduct performance reviews, and meet budget and headcount targets. Develop network between internal research laboratories in Palo Alto, Dearborn and Germany for collaborative projects. Initiate and manage projects with external partners, interfacing and networking with Silicon Valley-based technology firms, startups, universities, non-traditional suppliers and technology forums to scout and incorporate new technologies into Ford’s autonomous vehicle development. Lead advancement of state-of-the-art sensors, software, and silicon to increase robustness, coverage, accuracy and confidence of next generation autonomous vehicles. Support development of solutions for real-time embedded automotive applications using model based design tools, rapid prototyping and in-vehicle advanced computing platforms including GPU and GP-GPU.
Master’s or foreign equivalent degree in electrical engineering, computer science or a related technical field
3 years of experience in the job offered or 3 years of experience executing a project from inception to completion across multiple disciplines, including conducting research, working with sensor hardware and sensor calibration, acquiring and analyzing data, developing algorithms, implementing applications, and establishing and leveraging ground-truth data
3 years of experience delivering technology demonstrations and communicating the essence of the new technologies to senior leadership (C-Suite), clients and external media
2 years of experience conducting independent research and leading projects
2 years of experience using machine learning and pattern recognition techniques, including clustering, regression, classification, feature engineering, mixture models, neural networks, K-means, and Support Vector Machines
1 year of experience using MATLAB to develop sensor fusion algorithms using object level information from automotive radar, camera and ultrasonic sensors
1 year of experience working with and socializing automotive embedded domain controllers with internal customers and interacting with suppliers and developing sensor systems for Level 4+ autonomous vehicle perception platforms
1 year of experience developing signal processing and sensor fusion algorithms for automotive applications using cameras, RADARs, LiDARs, GPS, IMU and automotive communication protocols (CAN)
1 year of experience developing algorithms and concepts, including image processing, feature detection and matching, and coordinate frames
1 year of experience optimizing algorithms to meet runtime or accuracy objectives
