Position Description / Overview:

Java Designers/Developers needed to drive enterprise-class design and development of Java applications and services necessary to design, build, and deliver world class cars and trucks using standards and guidelines that support high volumes, are fast, simple, reliable, distributed, and easy to extend and maintain.


Position Duties:

  • Applies company architecture standards appropriately to the solution or service in collaboration with Architects.
  • Provide input on program estimation and project complexity.
  • Defines "interoperability," with interfacing systems/infrastructure and develops prototypes.
  • Develops implementation and transition plans.
  • Ensures solutions or services adhere to IT principles such as optimizing system design for performance, maintainability and usability requirements while meeting Ford IT standards, procedures, security, and policies.
  • Ensuring the implementation of the functional/nonfunctional requirements to produce the final solution.
  • Reviews and refines design components created by an associate designer/developer.
  • Conducts solution design for medium to large size programs.
  • May participate in cross-functional global committees (e.g., standards, best practices).
  • Lead and mentor team members to share the design vision of the solution.
  • Interacts with technical peers (business analysts, developers, architects), IT and business management, and vendors
  • Creates IT solutions or services to solve business and infrastructure needs using appropriate design methodologies in close cooperation with Business Analysts and business customers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of IT experience including- Data Modeling, RDBMS, O/R mapping such as Toplink, Hibernate or similar
  • 5+ years of Java, JAVA EE development experience using RSA/RAD/Eclipse, Object Oriented Analysis & Design
  • 5+ years of experience with core JAVA/JEE patterns, SOA design principles and design patterns with app design, design patterns and performance tuning

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other field
  • Demonstrate understanding of performance tuning multi-tiered java applications
  • Experience with Iterative software development practices, agile practices and successful team work and production deployments in high volume environments
  • Ability and willingness to work in fast paced and dynamic environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in handling team internal and external and business customers
  • Be willing to collaborate with Program Architecture leadership and contribute to the success of the Program
  • Experience in developing prototypes of user interfaces
  • Experience in translating business requirements into structured systems designs
  • Experience with identifying critical performance characteristics and security measures
  • Experience with Agile Software Craftsmanship/Clean Coder principles and practices including:
    • Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, & Test Automation
  • Experience with contemporary tools and frameworks commonly utilized by agile developers such as:
    • Java web components, web services, JSF, and Angular 1
    • Testing: JUnit, xUnit, Jasmine, FitNesse, JBehave, easyb, Cucumber, ScalaTest, Selenium, QTP
    • Automated Build: Gradle, Jenkins, uBuild, Ant, Maven, Ivy
    • Code Analysis: Sonar, Sonargraph, FindBugs, Code Coverage,.
    • Dependency Injection/IOC/Mocking: Spring, Guice, CDI, Mockito, EasyMock, JMockit.
    • IDE: Eclipse, NetBeans, IntelliJ.
