Job Description The Ford Research and Innovation center in Palo Alto works at the beginning of the product and technology development process at Ford Motor Company. We are part of the Research and Advanced Engineering group within Ford Product Development. We work with technology new to Ford and the automotive industry and help set the direction for the company when innovating on new products and services. We have a strong emphasis on software and services with that will help create the experiences and features that will differentiate Ford in the coming decades.
We are currently looking for an experienced and capable systems engineer to help bridge the hardware world to the software one. This role will expose hardware to software and help ensure safe, robust operation of applications and services we develop.
This position is located at Ford’s Research & Innovation Center in Palo Alto, CA. Resume, Cover Letter, Github Profile or Portfolio material are encouraged with submissions.
Design and develop software to integrate multiple systems.
Author documentation to assist other developers with their development
Write unit tests and other software to enable quality software and systems.
BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical degree.
3+ years of embedded software development experience.
1+ years designing and implementing embedded system architectures OR
1+ years developing device drivers or kernel-level functionality.
Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer engineering
Automotive interest and experience
Working knowledge of CAN networks
Previous experience with QNX or embedded Linux
